Green has a reputation as the leading female yachting photographer in the world. For more than three decades she has produced the Ultimate Sailing Calendar – an annual compendium of the top sailboat racing images from venues around the globe. In addition, her skills have been sought by sailing icons such as the late Roy E. Disney; Philippe Kahn, John Kilroy, Dennis Conner, and she has been published in leading periodicals around the globe.
In her quest for dynamic imagery, Green is habitually seen performing dare-devil antics, zipping around the water in a RIB or hanging out of a helicopter to capture world-class events such as the Transpacific Yacht Race, Key West Race Week, San Francisco Big Boat Series, the Admirals Cup, Volvo Round the World – plus eight America’s Cups!
Green will present a slide show set to music, and a talk where she depicts just how she captures some of her incredible images. The show, which has received rave reviews at yacht clubs around the nation, is expected to be a sell-out, so reserve early.
The 2018 Ultimate Sailing Calendar will be available for sale ($25.95) as well as her retrospective coffee table book – 30 Years of Ultimate Sailing – and Green will be available to sign copies.
ABOUT SHARON GREEN
SHARON GREEN credits Lowell North – the legendary Olympic gold medalist and founder of what would become one of the leading sail lofts in the world – with launching her career as a yachting photographer at the age of 17, when North asked her to shoot and develop sail shape images for Evergreen’s Canada’s Cup campaign. Green’s first front page placement, in The Toronto Star, followed shortly thereafter, and she has never looked back. Since then, Green has photographed eight America’s Cups and countless grand prix regattas, and her inimitable images have appeared in every major yachting publication. “The pursuit of the Ultimate Sailing shot never seems to grow old,” Green says. “Three decades later, I still love the challenge of creating memorable images for my clients and the calendar.”
In recognition of her extraordinary accomplishments in photography, Green was awarded an honorary Masters Degree from the prestigious Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara, California, where she resides.
